About the Masjid

A rich history has been a part of Nur-E-Islam masjid since its beginning. The current mosque structure which is the third building to occupy the parcel of land it is situated on, was constructed in 1966 through the hard work of members of the Jamaah at that time through fundraisers and donations. Imam Razack Ali who was the Imam at that time went on to serve in that position for over forty years. His successor and the current Imam, Imam Sheraz Ali, was appointed in 2001/2002.

Since the construction of the current structure was completed until now, much has changed through the mercy of Allah. Some of the more newsworthy projects are that of the addition of the northern car park as well as the construction of the northern building in order to be a facility for the ECCE centre, classrooms for the Maktaab as well as for daily evening classes and a gym on the third floor. The most recent event is that of the latest renovation of the prayer area itself, in which the upstairs of the masjid was furnished with air conditioning units, re-carpeted and the walls tiled along with additional work. In addition to this the Masjid offers a variety of services through the hard work of many members of the Jamaah.
